Privacy Policy

The National Hearing Test (NHT) will not sell or otherwise distribute any of your personal information generated through the NHT website. Aggregate project information may be shared with project partners, including AARP. All email addresses and contact information of those who communicate with us online are collected for the sole purposes of responding to specific questions, providing access codes, billing for taking the test, following up to determine whether full-scale evaluations and treatment were sought, and advising visitors of new online material. The National Hearing Test was developed with the support of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders of the National Institutes of Health, under Grant No. 3R43DC009719. Dissemination of the NHT requires that some test takers be contacted (for research purposes) to learn whether the advice to seek further assessment has been followed. The data we collect on the gender, age, race and ethnicity of callers is optional and if entered it remains anonymous. But this data helps to confirm that the test is being made available to all age, ethnic, and racial groups in the US. The content of this website is solely the responsibility of the authors and does not necessarily represent the official views of the National Institutes of Health.

The developers of the NHT are committed to preserving privacy and safeguarding credit card and other sensitive information.  Sensitive information such as credit card numbers are permanently deleted after use. Performance on the NHT screening test remains private and is retained for research purposes with the names of the test takers and other identifying information deleted.

If you would rather not receive further communications regarding the NHT, wish to make corrections to your personal information, or have questions about personal information that is collected, contact us by email at support@nationalhearingtest.org.
